Tango* Expedition 2010- Finnish mountaineering history!

Only a handful of Finns have climbed Mount Everest and apparently no Finnish woman has ever even tried to climb the highest mountain in the world. Even worldwide, only a few women have stood on top of Mount Everest.

Carina Räihä will be the first Finnish woman, who will try to conquer the highest mountain in the world as part of an international expedition. Carina's historical and unique attempt is called Tango Expedition 2010.

Carina is aiming to make the almost impossible possible and achieve something that no other Finnish woman has managed to do before. The effort will call for extreme endurance and performance both from the climber and the gear.

Carina prepares for the upcoming challenge by climbing Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas, in January 2010. At end of March 2010, she will start the journey to the top of the world, Mount Everest.

What makes oneself to engage in a project, which is not only perilous but also at the limit of one's mental and physical tolerance? Why choose conditions, where the temperature can drop to -50C, hurricane winds blow and the lack of oxygen can cause severe, sometimes permanent or even fatal effects on one's body? Among other things, you will find answers to these questions by following Carina's blog on this website. The intention of this website and the blog is to give readers a comprehensive and interesting narration of the details of this expedition in all it's stages: preparation, during the climb and after.

Welcome to join and see how we make Finnish mountaineering history!
